Curtis' Botanical Magazine is one of the oldest periodicals, printed between 1787 to 1973 when it was incorporated in The Kew Magazine. William Curtis (1746-1799) began publishing his magazine in 1787 and was succeeded first by his brother Thomas and then by his son-in law Samuel Curtis in 1801 to 1845. - All of the prints displayed on this site are from this later period. They are copper engraved and original handcoloured. Measurements for the smaller plates are approx. 21 x 12 cm respectively , for the double sized ones approx. 27 x 21 cm respectively . Double plates are marked with ‘D' in the order number. Plate size may vary.
