This charming engraving is from Smellie’s ‘Natural history: general and particular, by the Count de Buffon, translated into English.’, a translation of Buffon’s (1707 – 1788) comprehensive work ‘Histoire Naturelle...’ which comprised 36 volumes with approx. 2000 prints, mainly of animals.

The print is in a cream coloured mount with one gold line; the frame is in a black frame with wood finish to the front.
