“OLD MASTERS”. – HANFSTAENGL, Franz: “Franz Miers in seiner Werkstatt, von ihm selbst”
The print shows the Dutch painter Frans Miers in his studio, after a self portrait, sitting at an easel with a lady by his side, inspecting a portrait of herself, with a maid in thebackground looking on. The studio shows the usual paraphernalia found in an artist’s studio: the tools of the trade displayed on a sideboard behind the painter; a shelf displaying a small sculpture, books, a skull et al; with an angel suspended from te ceiling; a musical instrument standing in the fore ground.
