excellent condition– Very interesting, unusual and detailed map of the Nile delta. Nouet worked on a 53 sheet Map of Egypt though we think this one is either one of the key maps or a smaller version of the aforementioned as no other information could be found.

Excellent condition. – This map was published for The Society of the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge who's aim it was to distribute maps to a wider audience by cutting production costs. However, in the end their maps became known and acknowledged for their high quality and accuracy.

Thomas Kitchin and Thomas Jefferys became his apprentices; The former also became his son-in-law.

SOUTH AFRICA – VALK, Gerad and SCHENK, Peter: Aethiopia inferior vel exterior…;C1695;
Size 38 x 49.5 cm; copper; original wash colour.
Nice large cart and some ships in the sea; some faint off-set stains; a few very small wormholes and paper imperfections; otherwise excellent condition. –
Valk (1652-1726) was a Dutch engraver, publisher and globemaker, working in Amsterdam before he moved to London in 1672. Around 1680 he strated working with the German engraver Peter Valk who later became his son-in-law.
