Excellent condition. – This map was published for The Society of the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge who's aim it was to distribute maps to a wider audience by cutting production costs. However, in the end their maps became known and acknowledged for their high quality and accuracy.

Bowen (1693-67), one of the most important map and printsellers and engravers of 18th century London who became Engraver of Maps to George II of England and Louis XV of France. Thomas Kitchin and Thomas Jefferys became his apprentices; The former also became his son-in-law.

Nice large cart and some ships in the sea; some faint off-set stains; a few very small wormholes and paper imperfections; otherwise excellent condition. –
Valk (1652-1726) was a Dutch engraver, publisher and globemaker, working in Amsterdam before he moved to London in 1672. Around 1680 he strated working with the German engraver Peter Valk who later became his son-in-law.
