Large double hemisphere map with large cart and vignette. - The family were established map and globe makers in Paris. The son Dider succeeded his father Gilles in the business before the company was taken over by J.B.Fortin in 1778 and later by Ch.F.Delarmarche. The vignette actually identifies Delarmarche as
Geographer and states as date 1774.

Aria Montanus (1527 – 98) was a Spanish philosopher and theologian. He edited a eight volume Polyglot Bible with description in Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Syriac. The map is beautifully decorated with sea monsters and ships as well as wind heads. A wonderful editon to any collection!
