Beautifully decorated double hemisphere map, surrounded with scroll work and two small insets. This map is a reduced but still very detailed version of Girolamo Porro's world map. A nice collector's item!

1778; 48 x 76,5 cm; orig. outline col. copper engraving; some fine rest. in centrefold and within the paper due to old paper damage.small rust spot on right hand side within plate mark but outside image; one paint spot .

Large double hemisphere map with large cart and vignette. - The family were established map and globe makers in Paris. The son Dider succeeded his father Gilles in the business before the company was taken over by J.B.Fortin in 1778 and later by Ch.F.Delarmarche. The vignette actually identifies Delarmarche as

Geographer and states as date 1774.

1769; 27 x 42 cm; orig. col. copper engraving; one stain in upper right hand corner; paper fold lower left hand bottom; o/w exc. condition.

This map is from Pretot's Atlas Universel, Paris, Nyon, 1787, engraved by M.-A. Moithey. It shows the two polar region with a small cartouche.

1571; 31,5 x 53 cm; copper engraving; Shirley 125, 1st state; side margins shaved to printed area but no loss to image; o/w excellent condition.

Aria Montanus (1527 – 98) was a Spanish philosopher and theologian. He edited a eight volume Polyglot Bible with description in Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Syriac. The map is beautifully decorated with sea monsters and ships as well as wind heads. A wonderful editon to any collection!
